How Step Tracking Works

LuckyMeter uses your device's step count (from device sensors or health APIs) to measure walking activity. This data is used solely to calculate rewards, achievements, and insights related to your physical activity, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Walk mode does not use location. Auto mode, the default, uses your phone's location, processed on your device, while your phone's Location is on, to measure driving distance.

Daily Limits and Validation

Eligible steps, daily limits, and validation rules are subject to the current in-app rules and may change. We do not publish specific thresholds here to avoid stating a number that may not match the version of the app you are using — check the in-app rules for current details.

Why Steps May Not Count

Common reasons steps may not be reflected in your reward progress include:

  • Walking Mode was not enabled at the time of activity.
  • In Auto mode, GPS (Location) was on, so distance counted instead of steps.
  • Required device permissions (motion/activity recognition) were not granted.
  • Step counting stopped. In the latest version of the Android app, open your profile, go to Tracking and tap Restart counting to start it again; your totals are kept.
  • The device was unable to record motion data (e.g., app closed by the system, low battery mode).
  • Activity did not pass the app's validation checks for eligible steps.
  • You reached the applicable daily limit for the day.

FAQ

Does Walking Mode track my location?

No. Walking Mode (called Walk in the app) does not use location. Auto mode, the default, uses location only while your phone's Location is on.

Do all my steps count?

Only eligible steps recorded while Walking Mode is enabled, and validated under the app's current rules, count toward reward progress.
