How Distance Tracking Works

When your phone's Location is on and you use Auto (the default) or Drive mode, LuckyMeter uses your phone's location, processed on your device, to measure driving distance. Walk mode does not use location. You can turn Location off at any time in your device settings. To calculate eligible distance, LuckyMeter uses GPS coordinates and route information, along with trip metadata such as start/end time and duration.

Daily Limits and Validation

Eligible distance, daily limits, and validation rules are subject to the current in-app rules and may change. We do not publish specific thresholds here to avoid stating a number that may not match the version of the app you are using — check the in-app rules for current details.

Why Distance May Not Count

Common reasons driving distance may not be reflected in your reward progress include:

• Driving Mode was not enabled before the trip started.
• Required location permissions were not granted, or location services were off.
• In Auto mode, GPS (Location) was off. A phone that has only network location counts as GPS off, so steps count instead of distance.
• Weak or lost GPS signal during the trip.
• The app was closed or force-stopped by the system during the trip. When counting stops, the app shows a card or notification on how to restart it, for example to turn on GPS or high-accuracy location, or to open LuckyMeter to resume counting. In the latest version of the Android app you can also use Restart counting under Tracking in your profile, which keeps your totals.
• Activity did not pass the app's validation checks for eligible distance.
• You reached the applicable daily limit for the day.

Battery Use

Continuous GPS tracking in Auto and Drive modes uses more battery than normal phone use. Keep your device charged during longer trips if possible.

Privacy

Raw location route data collected in Driving Mode is retained only for a limited period to calculate rewards and investigate potential fraud, after which it is deleted or de-identified, while aggregated distance totals are retained. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
